Turning Point
Before the work of Henry Plant and Henry Flagler, Florida wasn't known for tourism like it is known for today. The contributions of the two Henrys led to a turning point in Florida's history. Beautifying Florida with the constuction of their hotels and various railroroads , Flagler and Plant made it easier to travel and made Florida more appealing to tourists. Plant didn't only affect the tourism industry, but also introduced an alternative way of travel using steamships and mass transportation of goods, that increased trade circulation in the 1880's and 1890's.
